RARA Launches Literacy Campaign Serving 100 Primary Learners in Ayikuma, Ghana

Empowering 100 Children To Learn To Read

The RARA Education Project CIC is proud to announce the launch of its latest campaign to support literacy development in Ghana. Spearheaded by Co-Founder and Director Chiedza Ikpeh, this initiative is inspired by her recent visit to Ghana, which highlighted the pressing need to address educational inequalities in underserved communities.

During her sabbatical in Ghana, Chiedza will work alongside FEED (Foundation for Educational Equity and Development), a non-profit committed to transforming literacy and educational opportunities for children. Together, RARA and FEED aim to equip 100 primary school children with the ability to read by Easter 2025 through two impactful programs under FEED’s Libraries Without Walls initiative:

  • The "4 Weeks 2 Read" Program: A curriculum designed to help non-readers become confident readers in just four weeks.

  • The "Lit Bag" Campaign: Distributing age-appropriate books and learning resources to nurture a love for reading at home.

RARA’s fundraising goal of £3,700 will cover training for teachers, literacy resources, and take-home "Lit Bags" for 100 students. To raise funds and awareness, Chiedza will participate in the Liverpool Run Aintree 10KM on 15th December 2024, documenting her journey to inspire collective action.

“This campaign is about more than literacy,” says Chiedza. “It’s about building a foundation for lifelong learning and breaking barriers to education.”

How You Can Support

We believe that every child deserves the chance to read, and with your help, we can make that happen. To make the Ghana Project 2025 a reality and equip 100 children with the literacy skills they need for life. There are two key ways you can support our mission:

  • Donate to Our Fundraiser: Financial support is essential to achieving our goal. If 100 people each donate £35, we will reach our target of £3500 and guarantee the success of this project. Every pound goes directly towards providing literacy programs and resources for children in rural Ghana.

  • Share Our Campaign: Help us raise awareness by spreading the word. Sharing this campaign with your network amplifies our reach and brings us closer to making a real impact in these children’s lives.
